Pumpkin Carving tools
Choosing the right tools for your craft.
If you are going to carve a jack-o-lantern, you are going to need tools. If you look around the web for ideas you will find that most sites reccomend you go out and buy some pretty outrageous stuff.
In our own experience you probably arent going to need a sawzall or plunge router. Sure you can slice the tops off a dozen pumpkins in sixty seconds with the right power tools. Be realistic though, just how many pumpkins are you going to carve this year?
for our reccomendation we say get an el-cheapo set of plastic carving tools that can be had for less than ten bucks. A few of the tools will probably be inadequate. Most likely the scraper For that we say go to the kitchen and grab up an ice cream scoop or if you must a metal spoon. There is a pretty good chance by next halloween you will have lost or discarded the toolkit, so go the cheap route.
Power Pumpkin Tools
For those of you who need the rush.
While we really do reccomend going for the cheap tool set we know there are those among us who have a deep seeded need to buy fancy tools. For those of you who will just not be satisfied with the plastic knife and puncture tool, we have decided to reccomend the next best thing. A pumpkin carving Dremel tool set.
A dremel tool kit should satisfy the need for power quite nicely without destroying a whole pumpkin field in the process. This is also a good choice beause dremel tools are useful for lots of other stuff. Since you are probably only going to use your pumpkin carving skill once a year a universal tool helps justify the expense.
