The Goofy Ghost

We had to have at least one ghost stencil in our library. We stuck to something simple to make it easy for the kids to carve this lantern design out. The only thing you need to wath for here is that the eyes and mouth must be connected to the side of the ghost or they'll fall out. If the kids happen to cut between the eyes or disconnect them from the side, you might try supporting them with a toothpick or two.

For this pattern you will probably want to start with a medium to large sized pumpkin and blow up the pattern to fit onto it. There is quite a bit of detail down in the trees and crosses. The small windows will also be difficult to cut out if the overall design is done too small. This shouldn't be too difficult for most people to finish, but its probably not the best template to choose for the younger kids.
